All evacuation notices have been lifted on the Powerline Fire near Mattawa, and firefighters are in mop up mode, according to a final update from the inter-agency fire command team.
The fire started at 12:38 p.m. Sunday about four miles north of Mattawa in Grant County. In a matter of hours it grew to thousands of acres and was moving fast to east. An inter-agency team was mobilized, with air and ground support.
As of Tuesday night, the fire was 80 percent contained and 7,800 acres, or about 12 square miles, according to the update. No injuries were reported and property damage was minimal. As of Tuesday night, 64 people were assigned to the fire.
For the next few days, mop up, rehabilitation and patrol will be turned over to local responders.
