YAKIMA, Wash. -- Area residents are gathering to honor 14th Legislative District Rep. Norm Johnson next week.
The lifelong public servant will be honored from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at the Yakima Valley Technical Skills Center, 1120 S. 18th St.
State Reps. Tom Dent and Sherry Appleton, along with state Sen. Curtis King, are expected to speak at the ceremony.
Johnson was elected to the state House as a Republican serving the 14th Legislative District in 2008. He announced earlier this year he won’t seek re-election, citing a desire to travel and spend more time with family.
Colleagues say the 80-year-old is well-known for his willingness and desire to work with members of another party to get better results for his district.
Attendees are asked to RSVP to Hanna Jones at email@example.com.
