Davis High School in Yakima School District went into a "secure and teach" precaution on Thursday morning because of police activity in the neighborhood.

The safety measure was called around 11 a.m. on Wednesday and lifted at roughly 11:40 a.m., said district communications director Kirsten Fitterer. Additional information about the police activity wasn't immediately available.

"Secure and teach" allows classes to continue, as opposed to a full lock down. It is used when there is a nearby threat rather than an on-campus threat.
