A woman found dead under a bridge south of Toppenish last year has been identified.

Linda Dave, 38, of White Swan, was found Feb. 15, 2017, by state Department of Transportation workers conducting an inspection on a U.S. Highway 97 bridge at the intersection with Marion Drain Road.

Officials identified her body after sending DNA to a state lab that worked through the FBI, said Yakima County Coroner Jack Hawkins.

Hawkins said the woman was a homicide victim and died of a gunshot wound to the stomach.

She was likely dead in the water for six weeks prior to when her body was found.

The Yakima County Sheriff's Office has not returned calls for more information about the homicide investigation.

This report will be updated.
