YAKIMA, Wash. — Yakima police are looking for a burglar who was thwarted by an armed resident Wednesday night.
A resident in the 600 block of South Ninth Avenue told police he found someone in his backyard trying to take items from a detached garage around 9:30 p.m., city spokesman Randy Beehler said. The resident ordered the man to get on the ground at gunpoint, but he ran off, Beehler said, leaving the items behind.
Police brought in a police dog to search for the suspect, but they were not able to find him, Beehler said.
The suspect was described as being in his 20s or 30s, bald with a mole on his face, Beehler said.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call police at 509-575-6200 or Yakima County Crime Stoppers at 509-248-9980 or 800-248-9980. Tips may also be sent through yakima.crimestoppersweb.com.
