Two Eisenhower High School students were arrested Thursday after a picture posted to social media showed one of them holding a gun in a school classroom, Yakima police say.

Police received a tip about the photo through Yakima County Crime Stoppers early Thursday morning, according to a police department news release. The picture showed a student holding the gun on his lap in a classroom, the release said.

While a face was not shown, school resource officers and staff identified the student, the release said.

Officers arrested him at his home, and the student said the gun belonged to a classmate who had taken the picture, the release said. Police arrested the second student at home and found the gun, the affidavit said.

Both suspects were booked into the Yakima County Juvenile Justice Center on suspicion of second-

degree firearms possession, possession of an altered firearm and possessing a dangerous weapon on school property.
