TOPPENISH, Wash. —Toppenish police say a 50-year-old man was fatally shot during an argument outside a North Beech Street apartment Friday night.
Daniel Campos and three other people were arguing about 10:23 p.m. when, as the argument became heated, one of the men pulled out a pistol and shot Campos several times, according to a Toppenish police news release. The three men drove off from the scene, but the vehicle was located shortly afterward, and three suspects were taken into custody.
Campos was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday, Yakima County Coroner Jim Curtice said.
Detectives consider the killing gang-related, and said the suspects have gang ties, the release said.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact police at 509-865-4355.
Campos’ death is the eighth homicide in Yakima County this year, and the first in Toppenish.
