YAKIMA — A 47-year-old Selah man made a preliminary appearance in Yakima County Superior Court on Tuesday on three voyeurism charges after police said he used an iPad to spy on women in his house.
Saturday morning, a woman who was staying as a house guest in the 600 block of Apple Way in Selah noticed an iPad hidden behind a basket on top of a toilet, with its camera positioned outward and with a view of the shower, according to a police affidavit.
When she picked it up, she discovered it was broadcasting to the man’s cellphone, the affidavit said.
Police said he had installed an application that automatically started broadcasting video to his phone when the tablet’s camera sensed movement.
When she confronted the man about it, police say he begged her not to tell anyone, saying he had never done such a thing before.
However, through texts he later sent to the woman and others, police said they believe the man had spied on at least three adult women, according to the affidavit.
