Two men shot Thursday afternoon in Yakima remain hospitalized, Yakima police said.

Police on Friday identified the two as Ruben Marin, 18, and Jeremiah Ledesma-Morales, 21. Both were shot in the torso around 4:30 p.m. in an alley near the 900 block of West Spruce Street.

Police say they’ve been told a vehicle pulled up to the victims and a verbal altercation ensued before one of the car’s occupants started shooting. Officers said the victims identified the car as a white sedan and said the shooter was wearing blue.

Police say the shooting was gang-related.

In a statement released Friday, officers said the Major Crimes Unit and the Gang Unit are working the case. Investigators ask that anyone with information call 509-575-6200.
