The Downtown Association of Yakima has hired Yvette Lippert as manager for the Downtown Yakima Farmers’ Market.

Lippert is no stranger to farmers’ markets – she’s run booths for Essencia Artisan Bakery at Yakima and Ellensburg markets since 2012. Lippert, who has a degree in dairy science with a minor in agriculture business from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, also worked at the Central Washington State Fair and for other county fairs in California.

Dates for this year’s market are expected to be set by the middle of next week, said Downtown Association of Yakima executive director Andrew Holt in an email.

Last month, the city of Yakima decided to grant a special event permit to the Downtown Association of Yakima for the market over the longtime Yakima Farmers’ Market Association, which ran the market for 18 years.

Don Eastridge, longtime Yakima Farmers’ Market Association manager, announced on the market’s website that he is negotiating a new location for this season.
