The Washington Student Achievement Council has appointed Yukari Amos, a professor in Central Washington University’s Department of Education, Development, Teaching, and Learning, as the four-year institution of higher education representative on the Paraeducator Board. Amos received her doctorate in multicultural education from the University of Washington.
Arturo Torres has been hired as registrar at Central Washington University. Torres, who previously served as an assistant registrar at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, will begin on July 16.
State Rep. Gina Mosbrucker, R-Goldendale, has been elected as a state director for Women in Government, a national bipartisan organization that supports female legislators.
Comprehensive Health care has announced two new hires. Rita Alvarado is Comprehensive’s new clinic manager. She will oversee administration needs for Comprehensive’s support staff services across Central Washington from her office in Yakima. She is a former nine-year member of the Wapato City Council. Christopher Butler is the new director/care manager for Comprehensive’s Hub and Spoke services. The Hub and Spoke team facilitates access to medication-assisted treatment to all patients seeking services for opioid use disorders.
Mary Davis, a senior branch office administrator at Edward Jones financial services company’s Terrace Heights branch, and Max Staples, a financial adviser also based in Terrace Heights, have accepted invitations to become limited partners in The Jones Financial Cos., the holding company for the St. Louis-based organization. Staples recently won the firm’s Spirit of Caring Award, which recognizes advisers who exemplify the values and spirit of giving back.
The Board of Trustees of Catholic Charities Serving Central Washington has appointed corporate officers and added members. Manuel Villafan, chief operations officer, will also serve as vice president. Paul Palmer will serve as CFO and treasurer. Monsignor Robert Siler has been named secretary of the Board of Trustees. New trustees are Lupita Mason and Sean Powell.
Melinda Moore is the new human resources director at Catholic Charities. She worked as a senior HR business partner for Anthem Inc., supporting its Medicaid division in Colorado, Nevada and Washington state.
Darrin Belton will soon join the agriculture leadership team as business development director of Stemilt Ag Services. Belton will be based in Zillah.
Yvette Raymond is the new chef de cuisine at Desert Wind Winery in Prosser. Raymond has held a range of jobs in the industry and has experience as a restaurant owner and large-scale caterer.
John Mohler of Brookside Funeral Home & Crematory has completed the NFDA Cremation Certification Program and Certification Examination, thereby becoming fully recognized as a Certified Crematory Operator by The National Funeral Directors Association.
