Amusement

Outgoing Central Washington State Fair President Greg Stewart was named “Show Person of the Year” by the Northwestern Showmen’s Club at an annual ball in Portland. The Northwestern Showmen’s Club is a nonprofit organization consisting of members from the amusement, entertainment, fairs and festival industry.

Stewart joined the fair in Yakima 1972 and took over as general manager the following year. He officially retired Jan. 10.

Law

Yakima Volunteer Attorney Services has recognized four local lawyers for their dedication and commitment to pro bono work this year with the 2019 Volunteer of the Year award. They are Kathy Tierney, Law Offices of Kathy Tierney; Matthew Kaminski, Yakima Law PLLC; Lauren Ellis, Law Offices of Catherine Lighty; and Amanda Lilly, Lilly Law PLLC.

Tierney and Kaminski were instrumental in a new clinic, Housing Justice Project, where tenants facing eviction can have representation in court. Lilly and Ellis assisted numerous family law clients at clinics and in their respective offices.

Volunteer Attorney Services is a nonprofit focused on reducing barriers to the legal system by connecting low-income individuals with attorneys who are willing to donate their time to assist clients.

Education

Josh Hibbard has been named Central Washington University’s vice president of enrollment management. Hibbard previously served as interim vice president of enrollment management at CWU in Ellensburg. He oversees Student Financial Services, the Game On! program and comprehensive enrollment management.

Banking

Yakima Federal Savings and Loan Association has promoted five employees:

Johnny Prado is now assistant vice president. Prado has 11 years of service and is manager of the Prosser branch office.

Keegan Harris is now assistant vice president. Harris has five years of service and is the manager of the Stadium Branch office.

Erianna Minter is now assistant vice president. Minter has 14 years of service and is manager of the Mortgage Loan Operations Department.

Kyle Harrington is now assistant vice president. Harrington has two years of service and is manager of the Accounting Department.

Kristen Mesner is now assistant secretary. Mesner has two years of service and will become manager of the Kennewick Branch office in the coming months
