• Gov. Jay Inslee has appointed Rodrigo Rentería-Valencia, professor in the anthropology and museum studies department at Central Washington University, to the Washington State Commission on Hispanic Affairs. Commissioners are recruited and appointed for their diverse views, locales and community connections in order to represent the diversity within the Latino population of the state.
• Virginia “Ginny” Tomlinson will begin as Central Washington University’s new associate vice president and chief information officer on Jan. 2. The CIO serves as the university’s senior technology executive.
