Paxton had an established career in marketing while Turner worked in various breweries across the West before they combined skills to open Single Hill Brewing Co. in downtown Yakima in June. The brewery in the old J.C. Penney auto center has already established itself as a community gathering place. "We knew we wanted to create a social hub for our community, one that is family-friendly and welcoming to all," Paxton said. The brewery has also gained some attention for making lighter, bright and balanced beers, such as its Cerveza and Citizen Dry Grain Hop, in a local beer scene that puts high value in hop-forward IPAs.

"I've really enjoyed dialing in lighter beer recipes," Turner said. "There's also always room for improvement with any beer; I love that aspect."
