January 27, 2020 The Yakima-Tieton Irrigation District, 470 Camp 4 Road, Yakima WA 98908 has obtained coverage under the Washington Department of Ecology’s General Permit No. WAG-991014A for Aquatic Weed Control in Irrigation Systems. The Yakima-Tieton Irrigation District System is located in Yakima County. The District delivers irrigation water to 28,000 acres located westerly and northerly of the City of Yakima including parts of West Valley, Cowiche, Tieton and Naches Heights. The District proposes to use the aquatic herbicide Copper Sulfate to control vegetation growth in the main canal during the months June, July, August, September and October 2020. The main canal is 12 miles long as is located on the south side of White Pass below Tieton Dam.
