From the artist:
"From news media images I have removed superfluous details as well as the distraction of color, to try to focus and isolate the raw human emotion, the direct consequences of humankind's proclivity for violence and tribal conflict. I hope my focus in black and white imagery enhances our ability to connect on an emotional level, to evoke an appropriate response of abhorrence, of compassion. I hope viewers take some time to sit with these images of real people, consider the challenges that our fellow human beings are experiencing at this very moment... Though we are all made of negative and positive forces we have to ability to choose the positive. I hope this exhibit inspires everyone to be a little kinder, to realize that each of us can make an impact."
