Dr. Bob & Carolynn McLaughlin were married in a Lutheran Church, in Bremerton, Washington on June 12, 1959, six days after she graduated from high school. It was love at first sight when he was 12 and she 11.
They lived in Seattle while both worked at Boeing, she as a secretary and he on the guidance section of the Minuteman missile. He finished his B.A. in education and moved to Yakima in 1967 to teach electronics at Davis High School and later became the vice-principal, then director of the first Yakima Technical Skills Center.
He came back to Davis as principal and retired from the Union Gap School District as Superintendent. The couple have four children, Tim, Dan, Mary and Scott. They also have 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. To celebrate they plan on a cruise to Alaska from Seattle in the near future.
