A Goldendale woman died Thursday following a one-car crash Wednesday afternoon on U.S. Highway 97, about five miles south of Goldendale, the Washington State Patrol reported.
Purley K. Head, 41, was taken by ambulance to Klickitat Valley Health hospital in Goldendale and was later transferred to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland, where she died at 4:20 p.m. Thursday, authorities said.
Troopers said she was southbound in a Mercury Sable when the vehicle left the roadway to the west, struck a rocky hillside, rolled onto its roof and came to rest on the southbound shoulder.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
Intoxicants were not suspected, troopers said. Head was wearing a seat belt.
The vehicle was considered a total loss.
