Republican gubernatorial candidate Dino Rossi will visit Prosser, Sunnyside and Yakima today.
Rossi will tour downtown Prosser from 1:30 to 2 p.m. starting at the Picazzo Seven Seventeen restaurant at 717 S. Sixth St.
He will then visit with Prosser Chamber of Commerce members at 2 p.m. at Pizzeria Venti, 1226 Meade Ave. Chamber director Jim Milne said the style will be a question-and-answer, open-house format to let the candidate know that Prosser is in the process of applying for Main Street designation in its efforts to revitalize its downtown. The public is invited.
Rossi will tour Sunnyside Community Hospital from 4 to 5 p.m. The hospital recently completed an overhaul of its emergency department.
Rossi will then throw out the first pitch at a Yakima Bears baseball game. The game is scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m.
Rossi is running against Democratic incumbent Gov. Chris Gregoire, who visited Prosser-area wineries last weekend to discuss the tourism industry.
