Hearing on B&B proposal today

Yakima Herald-Republic

A proposed bed-and-breakfast is the subject of a hearing today at City Hall that could determine the fate of one of Yakima's stateliest homes.

Paul and Holli Radke want permission from the city to turn the historic Rosedell Manor, located at 1811 W. Yakima Ave., into a B&B.

City staff say such usage is permitted by residential zoning codes. But a large group of neighbors bombarded the city with letters of opposition, forcing today's hearing.

The neighbors say a B&B is too commercial and, in that sense, not compatible with the neighborhood. The hearing gets under way at 9 a.m.

The mansion was built in 1906 by A.E. Larson and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1990.
