ELLENSBURG -- Police are still hoping for tips that will identify a man suspected of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl at Central Washington University in Ellensburg on Saturday.
Officers have checked a few leads since the case was first publicized Monday, but the man has not yet been identified, university police Lt. Mike Luvera said Wednesday.
Unspecified physical evidence is being reviewed at a state crime lab, Luvera said.
The girl reported that she was with two other children at CWU's Japanese garden Saturday evening when the man befriended them. He was able to separate the victim from her friends in order to carry out the assault at the garden, police said.
The suspect is described as white, about 30 years old and 5 feet, 8 inches tall. He had a slight to medium build and short hair. He was last seen wearing shorts and a striped shirt.
Police ask anyone with information about the case to call 509-925-8534.
