Tennis/Golf roundup -- Davis' Chang, Ike's Bemis reach 4A semifinals

YAKIMA -- Davis' Abe Chang and Eisenhower's Eric Bemis stormed through their respective singles brackets to reach the semifinals of the CBL 4A boys district tennis tournament Saturday at Kissel Park in Yakima.

After first-round byes, both players posted two victories.

In the quarterfinals, Chang defeated Richland's Michael Richards 6-1, 6-1, and Bemis outlasted Moses Lake's Andy Su 6-0, 4-6, 6-3.

In the girls tournament, Davis' Briana Tamaki and Katie Kunkel-Patterson lost in the quarterfinals, but remained alive in the consolation bracket.

Play concludes Monday, also at Kissel Park.
