Don't forget to leave those bags and boxes of food on your front porch Saturday morning.
Volunteers with Operation Harvest will begin combing through Upper Valley neighborhoods and picking up donations at 10 a.m. Folks are asked to leave nonperishable food items on their porches an hour earlier.
The 26th annual campaign, sponsored by Yakima's Rotary clubs, aims to restock the shelves of eight local food banks.
With high fuel prices and the nation's economy in turmoil, Yakima Valley food banks are seeing more and more families coming through their doors.
Just in case volunteers miss your doorstep, donations can be delivered to the downtown Yakima Salvation Army parking lot on the corner of Sixth and Yakima avenues -- the campaign headquarters -- or any of the three Wray's grocery stores.
