* The second annual Naches Valley Independence Day Festival moves into day two starting at 10 a.m. in Cleman's View Sports Park off U.S. Highway 12.
There will be vendors and fun for the kids (including a hot dog eating contest), and at 9 p.m. families are invited to bring "safe and sane" fireworks to set off in the park. Organizers are hiring crowd control to make sure things don't get out of hand with the fireworks, says Randy Juette, president of the Naches Valley Chamber of Commerce and vice president for the Upper Valley Sports and Recreation organization, which is putting on the event.
And all day, there will be plenty of live music. Here's the schedule:
* Noon -- James Henson (one-man show on guitar).
* 1 p.m. -- BBQ 2 (father-and-son rock, reggae, blues).
* 2 p.m. -- Rebel Rose (country, yodeling).
