YAKIMA -- The second annual Highgate Senior Living "Let's Beat Alzheimer's" Charity Golf Tournament will be Aug. 1 at Apple Tree Golf Course.
The one-of-a-kind event is designed to raise awareness of the growing incidence of Alzheimer's, which has more than doubled since 1980. By 2050, the disease will afflict an estimated 16 million Americans. One in eight baby boomers may develop Alzheimer's.
The golf tournament gets under way with a putting contest at 11 a.m., followed by registration at noon with the game at 1:30 p.m.
Fees are $125 per golfer, which includes greens fees, cart, dinner and dance, and a raffle. Registration is limited to the first 120 entries.
