SUNNYSIDE -- A Lower Valley power failure struck about 14,000 customers this morning, according to Pacific Power officials.

The power outage started at 9:43 a.m. and affected residents and businesses in Sunnyside, Grandview and the Sulfur Creek area east of Sunnyside. Spokesman Tom Gauntt said a majority of customers had their power restored within seven or eight minutes, except for about 1,100 customers in Sulfur Creek, who had to wait until 10:30 a.m.

Gauntt said the outage was likely linked to Pacific Power's connection to the Bonneville Power Administration. A BPA spokesman was not immediately available for comment.
