SUNNYSIDE -- The city of Sunnyside has announced the names of four finalists for the city manager position. They are:

* Mark J. Gervasi, city manager of Tillamook, Ore.

* Mark Roath, city manager of McAlester, Okla.

* Michael Stampfler, owner and managing partner of CivicQwest Consulting in Portage, Mich.

* Eric Swansen, village manager of Yellow Springs, Ohio.

They were among 29 applicants selected by city officials and community business leaders.

The finalists will visit Sunnyside on Thursday and Friday. The public is invited to a meet-and-greet with them from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Sunnyside Community Center, 1521 S. First St.

The City Council may make a decision this weekend. City officials expect the new manager to begin work in July.

The city has been without a manager since September, when council members asked Bob Stockwell to resign.
