Middle-schoolers are invited to apply for the Washington State College Bound Scholarship.

The four-year scholarship pays for tuition, books and fees not covered by other state and federal aid for students from low-income families.

As part of the application process, seventh- and eighth-graders sign a pledge to stay in school, earn high school diplomas, maintain good grades and be model students.

Foster youths and students enrolled in the free or
reduced lunch program are
especially encouraged to apply.

The deadline is June 1.

To help in the application process, GEAR UP, or Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs, and Granger Middle School are hosting an event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. next Tuesday.

The event will be held at the school, 501 Bailey Ave. in Granger.

More information is available at www.hecb.wa.gov/collegebound. Or, call GEAR UP in Toppenish at 865-8646.
