YAKIMA -- A Yakima man was arrested after he allegedly raped a developmentally disabled pizzeria employee when she made a pizza delivery to his home.
According to a police affidavit, a 24-year-old woman told police she was approached by the man at 1:30 p.m. Thursday while she was waving a sign on the street advertising the pizzeria where she works.
She said the man gave her money and asked her to deliver a pizza to his home, which she agreed to even though she warned the man she didn't get off work for another hour, the affidavit said.
When she left work, she delivered the pizza to the man's address and he walked her to his room saying he wanted to get to know her better. The woman said the man locked his bedroom door, told her that he wanted her to be his girlfriend and began taking off her clothes.
Police described the woman as developmentally delayed with the capacity of a preteen.
The woman reported the incident to police and the man was picked up on an unrelated misdemeanor warrant. After being interviewed by detectives, the suspect was booked Thursday night into the Yakima County jail on suspicion of second-degree rape.
