ELLENSBURG -- Central Washington, which lost starting point guard Nate Jackson to graduation, has possibly found a successor.

Jon Clift, who helped lead Spokane to a runner-up finish to Yakima Valley in the NWAACC Tournament in March, has decided to continue his career with the Wildcats.

"Jon is a very smart and hard-working point guard," coach Greg Sparling said in a news release announcing Clift's decision. "He will add depth to the point guard position and has been a very successful player throughout his career."

Clift, 5-foot-10, was a second-team All-Eastern Region pick after helping Spokane to a 30-2 record under former CWU assistant coach Mike Burns. While Clift's full statistics from last season were not available, he averaged 11.1 points and 3.4 assists as a freshman.

Clift came to the Sasquatch from Spokane's Ferris High School.
