Medical

Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center has hired registered dietitian Cameron Van Tassell as diabetes education program coordinator.

Van Tassell will visit diabetic patients while they are in the hospital and with patients who have recently been diagnosed with the disease.

He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wyoming and obtained his master's degree from Central Washington University. He has worked as a registered dietitian at several facilities over the past two years.

 

Dr. Pete Nathe of Yakima Smiles has completed a post-graduate course in Sleep Disordered Breathing at Las Vegas Institute. He will be offering sleep appliances for treatment of mild to moderate sleep apnea and snoring.

 

Nonprofit

First Tee of Yakima, an affiliate of a national nonprofit group that helps youth with character development skills and mentoring through golf, has announced officers for 2008-09 year.

They are Neal Springer, president; Pat McCarthy, vice president; Francisco Villa, treasurer; and Jerry Wilcox, secretary. Renewing board members are Del Rankin, Archie Sutton, Jakki MacLean, George Lopez, Lorenzo Alvarado, Greg Lybeck, Tammy Andringa and Ron Galbreath.

Mike Schlosser is a
newly elected board member and Rankin will serve as acting executive director.

 

Photography

Lance Johnson, owner of Image West Photography of Yakima, received two awards for his photographs at the annual Professional Photographers Association of Washington convention in Wenatchee in early April.

Johnson has operated his business for 16 years.

Real estate

Creekside Realty has added two agents to its staff. Joan Tanner, a real estate agent since 1989, and Gary Boehner joined Creekside Realty in March.
