Mary Graham Shigley

Mary Graham Shigley, 97, of Tacoma, formerly of Yakima, died Friday.

She was born in Wallace, N.C. She lived in Wilmington, N.C., Texas, Fremont, Mich., and 20 years in Yakima.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Carhart of Vashon, Wash., and Elizabeth Anderson of Gainesville, Fla.; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Evergreen Cemetery in Lansing, Mich.

Estes Leadly Funeral Home in Lansing is in charge of the arrangements.

 

Mary Leona Quantrille

Mary Leona Quantrille, 99, of Ontario, Ore., died Thursday.

She was born in Pomeroy, Wash. She lived in Wapato more than 50 years and worked as a bookkeeper at Brown and Olds Cold Storage Co.

Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Wright of Ontario, Ore.; four sons, Wayne Quantrille of Yakima, Charles Quantrille of Seattle, Gary Quantrille of Elmore City, Okla., and Alan Quantrille of Wapato; 25 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and 30 great-great-grandchildren.

Viewing is today from 9 a.m. to noon at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at West Hills Memorial Park.

 

Ada Frances Johnston

Ada Frances Johnston, 91, of Yakima died Saturday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Port Orchard, Wash., and lived in Yakima for 13 years. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include three sons, James Johnston of Elgin, Ore., Ronald Johnston of Florida and Donald Johnston of Yakima; one daughter, Jeanne Boroff of Gig Harbor, Wash.; one brother, Bill McCay Sr. of Yakima; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

 

Lilly Rose Trammel

Lilly Rose Trammel, 71, of Sunnyside died Wednesday.

She was born in Tremonton, Utah, and educated in Walla Walla.

Survivors include three sons, Tim Trammel of Yakima, Jeff Trammel of Bonney Lake, Wash., and Jim Trammel of Yorba Linda, Calif.; four brothers, Marion, Alvin, Mervin and Ray; two sisters, Leola and Lenna; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. Inurnment services will be in Falls City, Ore.

 

Constance 'Connie' Knopp

Constance "Connie" Knopp, 86, of Sunnyside died Saturday in Yakima.

She was born in Northboro, Iowa. As a teenager, she and her parents moved to Benton City and operated a farm. She lived in Wapato for 10 years, then made her home in Sunnyside. She was an accountant, saleswoman and co-owner of Sunnyside Ford Tractor and Equipment. She retired with her late husband, Al, in 1988.

Survivors include two daughters, Judith A. Thomas of Yakima and Peggy Campbell of Bellingham, Wash.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Viewing and visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home followed by graveside services and burial at the Lower Valley Memorial Garden.

 

Selles Willis Dole

Selles Willis Dole, 56, of Yakima died Saturday.

She was born in Jasper, Texas. She was a hospice volunteer and former captain of the Guard Marine Corps Auxiliary. She also worked as a trauma nurse.

Survivors include her husband, Norman Dole of Yakima; four sons, Shawn Davis and Stephen Davis, both of Baltimore, Md., and Norman Dole and Allen Dole, both of Rome, N.Y.; one daughter, Tonya Dole of Camden, N.Y.; parents, Lester Willis and Selben Willis, both of Mexico; two sisters, Karen Brown of Houston and Hope Larocque of Florida; and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 20 at the Ahtanum Community Church, 2506 S. 86th Ave. in Yakima.

Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.

 

Daniel Joseph Leingang Sr.

Daniel Joseph Leingang Sr., 56, of Yakima died Saturday at his home.

He was born in Yakima. He was a machinist and a security guard for several years.

Survivors include three sons, Steve Shotwell of Marysville, Wash., Dan Leingang Jr. of Yakima and Chad Leingang of Del Valle, Texas; 10 siblings, Marcella Cearlock of Texas, Bernnie Leingang of Puyallup, Wash., and Netty Fredrick, Albert Leingang, Alice Walker, Shirley Froman, Robert Leingang, Mike Leingang, Kevin Leingang and Johnny Leingang, all of Yakima; and four grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, 118 S. Fifth Ave.

Donna Lee Henry

Donna Lee Henry, 72, of Yakima died Nov. 23 in Seattle.

She was born in Mabton.

Survivors include her husband, Claude B. Henry of Yakima; two sons, David Henry of Battle Ground, Wash., and Mark Henry of Yakima; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is pending.

Acacia Funeral Home, Seattle, is in charge of the cremation arrangements.

 

Rosa H. Magana

Rosa H. Magana, 37, of El Mirage, Ariz., died Thursday near Toppenish as a result of an automobile accident.

She was born in Tecoman, Colima, Mexico. She was educated in Toppenish and moved to Arizona in 2005. She worked as a teacher's aide.

Survivors include her parents, Amado and Hilda Magana of Grandview; three children, Rudy Orlando Jr. and Christa and Itzel Castillon; two brothers, Amado Magana Jr. and Jorge Magana, both of Arizona; four sisters, Anna Madrigal, Fabiola Garcia, both of Grandview, Guadalupe Castillo of Arizona and Cristina Magana of Toppenish.

Recitation of the rosary will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Colonial Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.

 

Dallas Lawrence Jr.

Dallas Lawrence Jr., 67, of Wapato died Sunday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Missouri. He was raised and educated in Wapato. He worked in the hop industry beginning in 1966 at The Hop Con, then with John I. Haas Hop Extract division. He retired in 2003.

Survivors include two children, Stephen Lawrence of Wapato and Teresa Lawrence; one brother Don Lawrence of Wapato; one sister, Sonja Fabbri of Indiana; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Wapato. Interment will follow at Reservation Community Memorial Park.

Colonial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

 

Robert H. Gonzales

Robert H. Gonzales, 71, of Toppenish died at his home on Saturday.

He was born in Texas. He was educated in Wapato and worked for U&I Sugar, then for Cal-Pak.

Survivors include his wife, Jerry of Toppenish; one son, Robert Jr. of Yakima; one daughter, Dixie Mack of Moses Lake; three brothers, Richard, Ruben and Tom Gonzales; two sisters, Mary Degeus and Linda Gonzalez; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

At Mr. Gonzales' request, there will be no services.

Colonial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

 

Dr. Glenn M. Doornink

Dr. Glenn M. Doornink, 81, longtime Wapato resident, died Saturday.

He was born in Baldwin, Wis., and educated in Wapato. He served in the Naval Air Corps. He opened the Wapato Medical Center with doctors Harold Buckley and Harry Gregg in 1954, where he practiced until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Irsfeld Doornink of Wapato; seven children, James W. Doornink and Nancy J. Calhoun, both of Wapato, David W. Doornink, Daniel G. Doornink, Christine Boothman and Eileen M. Weresch, all of Yakima, and John R. Doornink of Poulsbo, Wash.; 36 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Riverside Christian School, 721 Keys Road in Terrace Heights.

 

Alta J. Ritchie

Alta J. Ritchie, 88, of Yakima died Saturday.

She was born in Willsal, Mont. She moved to Wenatchee in 1968 and to Yakima in 1985.

Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Carol Johnson of Wenatchee and Roydonna Mulder and Nyal Brantner, both of Yakima; one sister, Margaret Miller of Phoenix; six grandchildren and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Dec. 21 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 14 N. 48th Avenue.

Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

 

James Allen Taylor

James Allen Taylor, 51, of Yakima died Saturday.

He was born in Milwaukee, Wis., and moved to the Yakima area in 2000. He worked as an electrician.

Survivors include three sisters, Frances Eastern of Yakima, Joyce Palomaki of West Alice, Wis., and Pamela Taylor of Salt Lake City; and four brothers, Richard Taylor of Spokane, Johnnie Taylor of Georgia, Robert Taylor of Oconto, Wis.., and Royal Taylor of Rightstown, Wis.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date.

Janice Lea Dunham

Janice Lea Dunham, 64, of Selah died Saturday in Yakima.

She was born in Toppenish.

Survivors include her husband, Earl Charles "Chuck" Dunham of Yakima; a son, David Dunham of Yakima; a daughter, Deborah Larsen of Tacoma; a sister, Judy Conner of Wenatchee; and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in West Side Baptist Church. Concluding service and burial will be in Tahoma Cemetery.

 

Edward P. Hilliard

Edward P. Hilliard, 89, of Yakima died Nov. 24 at Garden Village.

He was born in Aberdeen, Wash. He was a painting contractor.

Survivors include two sons, James E. Hilliard and Scott T. Hilliard, both of Yakima; one daughter, Susan K. Williams of Whidbey Island, Wash.; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services are pending.
