Nov. 19 Daily roundup

by Mai Hoang

Hello, shoppers.
So much for trying to get a roundup in the morning. Unfortunately, this blog is not the only job I have here at the YH-R. But I could not let a day pass without giving you some tidbits:

• How many people knew what a tweet was a year ago? Well if you don’t know what one is by now, you might be missing out on knowing about some online bargains. Online retailers are offering a variety of discounts, but the deals are constantly changing, according to a story from MSNBC. Retailers are keeping shoppers updated on all the deals by sending messages on Twitter and text messages to cell phones.
Could this replace the Sunday circulars?

• Barbie continues to be the top desired toy for the holiday for girls, according to a recent survey from the National Retail Federation. But what is more significant is that toys related to Hannah Montana, the popular television show, jumped several spots this year to be the second most desired toy for girls.
The top gifts for boys were video games such as the Nintendo Wii.
Check out the full release about the survey.

• A call to readers: I’m looking for folks who have unusual shopping methods for the holidays. Do you get your shopping done by July? Do you brave the pass to get all your gifts from Seattle? Let me know.

• Also, if you’re planning on enduring Black Friday next week, I want to hear from you too!  Or if you refuse to participate in the chaos, I want to know about that too.

So there’s the short (and very late) roundup! Want to yell at me for my tardiness? Or have story ideas? Or just want to tell me something you want to see on this blog? You can always reach me via comment or by e-mail at mhoang@yakimaherald.com.
Happy shopping!
