Voters looking for information on legislative and Yakima County Commission candidates will have two opportunities this week.
Two organizations are planning candidate forums. The first, sponsored by Yakima Valley Newspapers, is set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Wapato Community Center, 1009 S. Wapato Ave. It will feature the four candidates for the Yakima County Commissioner District 2 seat: Democrat Jesse Farias and Republicans Ron Gamache, the incumbent, Kevin Bouchey and Dan Olson.
Those four also have been invited to a second forum at 6 p.m. Thursday at City Hall in Yakima.
Candidates for two 14th District state House seats also are expected to attend. For Position 1, the candidates are Republicans Norm Johnson, Bob McLaughlin, Al Schweppe, Aubrey Reeves and Scott Hess, along with Democrat Vickie Ybarra. The Position 2 candidates are incumbent Republican Charles Ross and Democrat Chris Ramirez.
Readers are encouraged to use these forums to discuss issues affecting the Yakima Valley.
