SPOKANE -- With an MVP effort from Riverside Christian's Madison Hahn's leading the way, the Class B East all-stars, laden with Greater Columbia B League standouts, rolled to an 89-41 win over the West in the All-State Girls Series on Saturday at West Valley High School.
Hahn scored 14 points on 5-for-8 shooting and had five steals and four rebounds for the East, which pulled away with a 51-point second half.
La Salle's Jasmine Stohr collected 14 points, seven rebounds, five blocks and four steals, and Sunnyside Christian's Melanie Van Wingerden turned in a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
SC's Emma Newhouse and La Salle's Monica Schneider combined for eight points, seven rebounds and four steals.
In the 3A-2A game, the East team featuring Selah's Sasha Valdez (2 points) and Prosser's Jordan Brown (no points) lost 62-38 to the West.
And in the 1A contest, Naches Valley's Stephanie Powers scored seven points, Mabton's Ana Jimenez three and Granger's Janae Klarich two as the East won 85-77.

Beetles fall in tournament
PORTLAND -- Two walks and two hit batsmen forced in the winning run as the Yakima Pepsi Beetles fell to the Washington Wave 12-11 in the Rose City Invitational baseball tournament Saturday.
The Beetles, who committed seven errors, rallied from a 10-4 deficit through three innings to tie it before the Wave began its hitless rally with two out in the bottom of the seventh.
Seth Kline was 4-for-4 with a three-run homer, totaled four RBI and scored three runs and Tyler Berman was 2-for-2 with three runs scored.
Yakima (11-13) continues tournament play at 9 a.m. today.

Komstadius tabbed 2A MVP
East Valley's Kevin Komstadius was named Class 2A player of the year by the Washington State Baseball Coaches Association, which has released its all-state teams.
Selah's Justin Windsor and Ellensburg's Ethan Sterkel joined Komstadius on the first team of the 2A squad.
Davis' Evan Morris was a second-team selection in 4A.
Goldendale's Nick Dorhman, Highland's Matt Summers and Naches Valley's Ethan Flory all made first team in 1A.

Stealers win 2 of 3 in tourney
HILLSBORO, Ore. -- The Yakima Stealers won two of three games in the Valley Invitational Exposure fastpitch tournament Saturday, beating the Portland Tigers 7-6 and the Vancouver Taters 8-0 and falling 10-1 to the Oregon Thunder.
Against Portland, Hannah Hester was 3-for-3 and scored twice and Becca Sharon homered.
Yakima then ran into the Oregon Thunder's Kelsi Ott, who fired a two-hitter with four strikeouts.
The Stealers rebounded, however, with Kristina Doty's four-hitter against Vancouver, with Sharon going 3-for-3 and Emily Shepard homering.
Having concluded pool play, Yakima will take part in bracket play for final tournament placing today.

Stealers Blue win twice
RICHLAND -- Natalie Fickes collected three hits in each game as the Yakima Stealers 16-U Blue team started 2-0 in the Three Rivers Rally on Saturday.
Fickes was 3-for-3 and Emily Harpel threw a five-hitter with six strikeouts in Yakima's 9-2 win over the Tri-Cities Phillies. Samantha Harris was 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs.
The Stealers then defeated the Othello Sun Diamonds 6-5 in nine innings. Baylee Bunyard and Fickes had three hits each and Sierra Weedin accounted for two hits and two RBI.
YOUTH BASEBALL
NV reaches title game
Naches Valley advanced to today's championship game with a 9-1 victory over the Yakima Scarlets on Saturday in the eight-team June Jam at West Valley High School.
Having outscored three tournament opponents 39-2, Naches Valley will face The System of Bellevue in today's title game at 4:30 p.m.
West Valley Baseball Club defeated the Wenatchee Blues 8-5 and will play East Valley for third place today at 2 p.m. Casey Croshaw pitched a complete game for WV and Tucker Leppa had two RBI.
In other games Saturday, The System blanked the Cadet Baseball Club 8-0 and East Valley beat the Yakima Valley Pepsi Juniors 4-2
* Steven Wagar's one-hit complete game led the West Valley Bees to a 9-0 win over Ferndale in the Skagit Valley Invitational. Tyler Ueltschi and Jimmy Nagle had two hits each in the win, which clinched a spot in today's title game against Kitsap.
