MABTON -- Eight fire departments from across the Yakima Valley converged on a dairy farm Sunday afternoon to battle a haystack fire.
The blaze was reported about 1:45 p.m. near the 300 block of Fisher Road and State Route 22 between Mabton and Grandview. Granger, Union Gap, West Valley, East Valley and several other fire crews responded to the scene, according to the Lower Valley fire dispatcher.
Initially, 110 bales were on fire, but flames soon spread to 500 bales. No injuries were reported, and no homes were threatened as of early Sunday evening.
Crews continued fighting the blaze into the night. Additional details on the fire were unavailable in time for publication Monday.
