AUBURN — Tomas Ogbaslassie produced a double double of 17 points and 10 rebounds Friday as top-ranked Yakima Valley downed South Puget Sound 83-73 in the Green River Crossover Tournament.

YVCC, 6-1 and ranked first among NWAACC teams, also got 15 points and eight rebounds from Jeremy Gaudette, 15 points from Rico Bolivar, 12 from Montero Rice and 10 from Joel YellowOwl.

The balanced scoring offset poor 3-point and free throw shooting by the Yaks, who converted only 3 of 19 shots from long distance (Bolivar was 3 for 9 while the rest of the team was 0 for 10) and 14 of 24 from the foul line.

The Yaks, who led 36-30 at halftime, shot 68 percent (19 of 28) in the second half and finished at 53 percent. Gaudette, a 6-foot-7 freshman from Naches Valley, was 7 for 10 from the field, as was Ogbaslassie, while YellowOwl was 4 of 5.

Yakima Valley continues crossover play at 5 p.m. today against the winner of a later Friday game between Olympic and Lane.
