Yakima Valley’s Kayla Reynolds, Sam Boelter and Kylie Harper have been named to the NWAACC’s East Region fastpitch all-star team.
Reynolds, a freshman pitcher from Bellevue’s Newport High School, made the first team along with Boelter, a sophomore third baseman from Cedarcrest High in Carnation. Harper, a freshman outfielder from Othello, made the second team.
Reynolds was recently named the East’s pitcher of the week for posting a 2-0 record with a 0.00 earned run average. She pitched 13 innings, allowed 11 hits and recorded 16 strikeouts.
Cle Elum’s Hailey Bator, a sophomore pitcher for Wenatchee Valley and who has signed a letter of intent with Washington, was named the region’s pitcher of the year and MVP.
YVCC finished 26-21 this past season, including a 15-15 record in region play that narrowly missed gaining the Yaks a playoff berth.
In other Yakima Valley news, basketball player Jaimi Cox has been named to the NWAACC’s all-academic team for winter quarter.
A sophomore from Palmer High School in Anchorage, Alaska, Cox compiled a 3.49 grade point average for the quarter.
