BILLINGS, Mont. — Central Washington’s fastpitch team temporarily extended its season Friday in the GNAC fastpitch tournament, beating Western Oregon 3-2 in a loser-out game before falling 2-0 to Simon Fraser.

The loss to SFU ended the Wildcats’ season, and they finished with a 20-20 record.

Maria Gau was solid in both games for CWU, pitching a four-hitter against Western Oregon although she did issue five walks.

The Wildcats scored twice in the fourth inning on Alexa Olague’s RBI single and an error, then won the game on Cassi Ellis’ two-out, run-scoring base hit in the bottom of the seventh.

The win snapped a five-game losing streak.

Against Simon Fraser, however, Central managed only one hit and fell despite Gau’s three-hitter with five strikeouts and no walks.
