ELLENSBURG, Wash. — Ken Wilson and Rob Hippi, members of Central Washington’s athletic hall of fame, have joined the Wildcats’ baseball coaching staff, the university has announced.

Wilson, a former CWU head coach and who most recently led a resurgent Yakima Valley program, will join Hippi in recruiting and in helping head coach Desi Storey with the team’s pitchers.

Wilson, 66, was Central’s head coach from 1987-91, when he was succeeded by Storey. Last spring he completed his third season as head coach at YVCC with the Yaks going 100-41 during his tenure.

Hippi, 64, was a pitching ace for the Wildcats before his graduation in 1972 and was a member of the 1968 and 1970 Central baseball teams that have been inducted into the CWU hall of fame. He had been a longtime assistant at Lower Columbia College in Longview.

Central opens its season on Feb. 3 in California and have scheduled their home opener for March 5 against Whitworth.
