SELAH, Wash. — It may have been nonleague Thursday night, but when West Valley and Selah meet on the same volleyball court it means plenty.

Taylor Wicht compiled 16 kills, 27 digs and served two aces as Selah, ranked second in the season’s first 2A state poll, outlasted No. 1 West Valley 3-2 in Carl Kellman Gym.

The Vikings lost a 2-0 lead but recharged in the fifth game to win 25-20, 25-15, 17-25, 15-25, 15-9 and hand West Valley its first loss of the season.

Kerista Goodpaster had 17 kills, 16 digs and two aces while Cheyenne Fletcher posted eight kills and 26 assists for Selah, which dropped a five-setter on Tuesday at Eisenhower.

Erika Crawford paced West Valley (9-1) with 16 kills and 21 digs and Sami Meyer collected 14 kills and 26 digs. Anna Hull amassed 41 assists and 11 digs.

Both teams open CWAC play on Tuesday on the road with West Valley at Ephrata and Selah at East Valley.

West Valley and Selah meet for their conference match on Oct. 15 at West Valley.
