WAPATO, Wash. — Police arrested a male suspect in connection with threatened violence that sent the entire Wapato School District into a 45-minute lockdown Tuesday.

Wapato police Chief Tracy Rosenow said the threat referred to a school basketball game that occurred roughly two weeks ago.

The school district’s student resource officer spotted the threat on Twitter, and ordered the district into a full lockdown at 1:35 p.m. while police investigated and made the arrest, he said.

Rosenow wouldn’t provide details about the threat or say which school the threat targeted. He also wouldn’t provide the age of the suspect.

“It’s been taken care of,” he said. “He’s in custody and the investigation is ongoing.”

The district is composed of roughly 3,300 students and three elementary schools, a middle school and two high schools.
