Ellensburg’s bats keep connecting and the Bulldogs keep winning.

Karly Malcolm drove in five runs in the opener and Allie Kopczynski produced three of her team’s 10 hits in the second game as unbeaten Ellensburg swept West Valley 14-5, 5-1 in a CWAC fastpitch doubleheader Saturday afternoon at West Valley.

The sweep moved Ellensburg a step closer to the league title, improving to 12-0 in the CWAC and 14-0 overall with three doubleheaders remaining. West Valley moved to 7-5 in league and 8-6 for the season.

Malcolm, a sophomore, went 3 for 4 in the opener with a double, triple and five RBI for Ellensburg, which trailed 1-0 through three innings before erupting for five runs in the fourth frame.

Malcolm also pitched the first five innings of the second game and left with a 4-1 lead. Kopczynski was 3 for 4 with a double in that game, and teammates Mackenzie Hughes and Brandee Hannahs finished with two hits in each contest.

Lexus Turner drove in a pair of runs in the opener for West Valley, which resumes league play on April 29 at Ephrata.

Ellensburg hosts Grandview next Saturday.
