YAKIMA, Wash. — The Yakima Herald-Republic’s Lower Valley reporter, Ross Courtney, steps onto the Open Mike set today to discuss the saga that led to Frank Sweet’s ouster as Sunnyside city manager.

Host Mike Faulk and Courtney also discuss the legal troubles facing Sweet stemming from his previous time as city manager of Selah, where he is accused of stealing and destroying city property when he left office.

The Sunnyside City Council stuck with Sweet despite the charges, but the public spectacle of a feud between Sweet and a popular local official ultimately led to his ouster earlier this year.

During each Open Mike segment, Faulk will speak with a Yakima Herald-Republic staff member to gain his or her perspective on a particular newsworthy event or an aspect of the newsroom operation. Each segment will be available by noon Wednesday at yakimaherald.com.

Viewers can contact Faulk directly at mfaulk@yakimaherald.com if they have feedback or suggestions for a show topic. They can follow him on Twitter at twitter.com/Mike_Faulk.
