PROSSER — After nearly three years in business, a Prosser restaurant has closed its doors.

Tuscany, an Italian restaurant at 602 Sixth St., shuttered Saturday.

Susanne Ayala, who ran the restaurant with husband and chef, Jessie Ayala, said that rising costs coupled with a typically slow winter season made running the restaurant unsustainable.

With that in mind, it seems like a good time to step back and focus on other priorities, such as their children, she said. “Working 100-hour weeks makes it difficult to focus on our family,” Ayala said.

The Ayala family will continue to do catering and will keep the restaurant’s Facebook page up while they make the transition, Ayala said.

Meanwhile in Union Gap, Famous Dave’s has submitted a planning application and site plan for a new location at Washington Plaza, the new shopping center at the former Costco site at 1600 E. Washington Ave., said Union Gap development coordinator Dave Spurlock.

According to the application, the restaurant will be about 6,500 square feet and will be a full-service restaurant and bar.

Washington Plaza owner CenterCal Properties has said it expects the restaurant to open by the beginning of next year.
