HIGHLAND 2, QUINCY 1 (OT): At Quincy, Tony Alvarez’s goal off a corner kick from David Arreguin in the final seconds of overtime was the difference for the Scotties in the first-round match.

Highland fell behind 1-0 in the first half but fought back to tie it on Luis Nogales’ tally 10 minutes into the second half. Goalkeeper Armando Lopez made eight saves.

“We actually played better when we fell behind,” said Highland coach Greg Wagner. “Quincy came out real hard and took it to us for a while, but we made some adjustments and were able to take control in the second half.”

Highland (17-2) will travel to the westside for a quarterfinal on Saturday against Seattle Christian, a 1-0 winner over Cascade Christian.

Royal, which beat Highland in a shootout for the SCAC district title last week, lost to Manson 1-0 on Tuesday and was eliminated.
