To the editor — In early December, my father-in-law had a medical emergency at home and we called 911. The responders arrived in moments and calmly went about their focused process of evaluating him. They were efficient, effective, kind and reassuring and soon began treating the problem and preparing him for transfer to the ER. I can’t say enough for their professional expertise and the respect they gave to their patient and to our anxious family. The competent treatment continued at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital ER by the excellent staff there.

A few days before Christmas, he died peacefully at home, and again the compassionate handling of the after-death procedures was the best we could imagine. Very impressive and we are so grateful to all!
