Maria “Rosa” Benitez, 75, of Yakima died Saturday.
Mrs. Benitez was born in Eagle Pass, Texas. Her family moved to the Yakima Valley in 1956. She was a homemaker and worked as a certified nursing assistant at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Yakima and a social worker at Epic Head Start. She retired from Central Washington Comprehensive Mental Health as a senior adult counselor.
Survivors include her husband, Juan Benitez; two daughters, Juanita Ramirez and Frances Benitez-Brown; a son, Jesus Benitez; a brother, Antonio Ruiz, all of Yakima; a sister, Maria Ruiz-Vijarro of Wapato; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today and from 3 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, with recitation of the rosary at 6:30 p.m., at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors, Yakima. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Yakima, with interment to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Yakima.
