Samuel A. Masters, 81, of Yakima, died Wednesday at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center.

Mr. Masters was born in Union Gap. He worked as a ditch rider for more than 20 years in the Selah, Tieton and Naches irrigation districts.

Survivors include his wife, Edith Masters of Yakima; five sons, Dan Masters, Walter Masters, Jim Masters and Joe Masters, all of Yakima, and David Masters of Oregon; a stepdaughter, Judy Sterling of Yakima; a brother, Ed Lucas of Walla Walla; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Breakthrough Christian Center in Yakima. Arrangements are by Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory in Yakima.
