John R. Dixon, 77, of Cowiche died Monday in Yakima. Mr. Dixon was born in Cedar Creek, Mo., and moved to the Yakima Valley in 1952. He worked in the apple industry, eventually owning and operating an orchard. He also worked for Laymans Lumber Co. for 37 years, retiring in 1999.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy of Cowiche; three daughters, Teresa Estes and Robin Bommersbach, both of Cowiche, and Jackie McAlpin of Selah; two brothers, Charles and Jim Dixon, both of Omaha, Ark.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home of Toppenish. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in West Hills Memorial Park.
